Oh, what a night!!

Saturday night, Mark and I had our family over for the big "gender reveal!"  Since Mark and I cheated and found out Wednesday, we decided it would be special to have our moms cut the cakes!

The cakes!!!  We had to stand guard once our family started arriving.  I just knew my mom was going to swipe some icing to reveal the color underneath.

Baby A is a BOY!!

My mom cut into Baby B's cake!  What you can't see is that she is sobbing!  We were all so excited!

Baby B is a GIRL!!

My niece, Ashley!  She and her brother, Austin, are the first set of boy/girl twins in our family!

This might be the worst picture I've ever taken, but how cute are my babies!!  My sister in law, Jessica, gave me these frames as a Christmas present.  She was convinced I was having a boy and a girl!

We are just overjoyed!  I was completely convinced that I was having two little boys!  I would have loved that, too, but this is just perfect.  Mark has been saying since the very first ultrasound that we were having a boy and a girl.  He might just be the happiest man alive right now.  We are just so grateful to God for these two little miracles. We have such wonderful friends and family who already love these babies so much, and have been praying for them from the moment they were conceived.  Mark and I continue to pray for their health and safety.  We pray that they will be born healthy and strong and will know from the moment they enter this world they their mom and dad love them so much.  Now we have to really narrow down our names.  We have a top 5 list of boy and girl names.  Hopefully, we will choose one soon.  I want to start praying for my babies by name.  If you are reading this, please keep our little boy and girl in your prayers.  We believe in the power of prayer and we covet all that we can get.

17 WEEKS

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 17 weeks
Size of Babies: the babies are the size of onions
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Not sure. Mark took the scales and hid them from me. I was becoming a little OCD about weighing. I go back to the doctor February 8th, so I'll know then. I'm kinda scared because I have been giving in to a lot of yummy temptations!
Maternity Clothes: I alternate between maternity jeans and my regular stretchy jeans. Very thankful for bellabands! I ordered some cute dresses from Old Navy to take on our "babymoon" and they came in today! Super cute and comfy! I'm hoping they still fit when it's 75 degrees and sunny here!
Gender: We went yesterday and I have to confess, we opened the envelope. I just couldn't wait any longer, but we are both sworn to secrecy until Sat. We're going to let our moms cut the cakes. I can't wait! I am so excited, and still so thankful for this whole experience.
Movement: Nothing yet, but I can't wait!
Sleep: So far so good! However, I'm waking up around 3 a.m. every morning and it's getting harder and harder to go back to sleep.
What I Miss: energy and my coffee
Cravings: No cravings. I just have the appetite of a truck driver.
Symptoms: This week I've been experiencing lots of lower back pain. Calling my chiropractor asap!
Best Moment of the Week: Seeing our babies in 4D and finding out their gender. They are already so adorable! I can't wait to share with everyone our news. Also, we think we have our names narrowed down, but I'm not sharing that until we know for sure.

I have to brag on my husband. These arrived this afternoon. He's so sweet! We normally don't do flowers, but every now and then he surprises me.

I'll try and post pictures of our "Gender Dinner" after everyone leaves Saturday night.  Can't wait!

Pregnant with TWINS!!!

16 WEEKS

I might just be the world's worst blogger. Yes, I have allowed 16 weeks to pass and I haven't said a word about this pregnancy on here.  Quick update: We are pregnant with TWINS!!  My official due date is July 7th, ironically, our wedding anniversary, but my doctor will take them via c-section the week of June 15th.  We are praying that I make it to that date.
I have always made fun of myself for having a blog because I really have/had no business blogging. What in the world do I have to say and who the heck cares? Well, now that I'm pregnant, I think this blog may be of great use to me. I'm not the best at documenting important events in my life.  Take our wedding weekend and honeymoon for instance, not a single picture!!  Thank goodness for friends and facebook!  Mark at least took a few on our honeymoon!  Anyway,  I'm turning over a new leaf.  I can't tell you what I would give to be able to have seen what my mother looked like when she was pregnant with me, or to read about how she was feeling and what she was thinking.   I also swore that I would never take pictures of my pregnant self, but you know what, I'm just so darn thankful to be pregnant, I don't really care anymore.  Hence, the picture above.  I will, however,  swear right here and now that there will be no pictures of my bare pregnant belly.  Just not gonna happen.  No offense to anyone who has or wants to, that's just not my thing.  So, I'm going to be updating this blog at least once a week so I can document the rest of this pregnancy.  One of these days I will sit down and write about the incredible journey that God brought us through to get to this point.  I will always consider these babies to be little miracles.  I'm still not sure I deserve such a blessing.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 16 weeks
Size of Babies: the babies are the size of avocados (5 ounces each)
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 1 pound, although I feel like I've gained 20!
Maternity Clothes: I alternate between maternity jeans and my regular stretchy jeans.  Very thankful for bellabands!
Gender: We go Wednesday, but we're not finding out until Friday!!  I'm dying!!  Mark is going with me Wednesday just to keep me honest and from not peeking into the envelope!
Movement: Nothing yet, but I can't wait!
Sleep: So far so good, I'm waking up a lot earlier than normal.
What I Miss: energy and my coffee
Cravings:  No cravings.  I just have the appetite of a truck driver.
Symptoms: I have been really sick, but I'm hoping that the worst is over.
Best Moment of the Week: We got to see them again Monday.  Being pregnant with twins has lots of perks, and getting a sonogram once every few weeks is one of them.  I've already had 5!  I love getting that reassurance that everything is okay!
