Bloggin Break

Once again, it's been a while. I thought I would write and post some pics before Christmas has come and gone. Some pictures below are from my friend Sally Moore Williams' wedding, Thanksgiving, Christmas Parade, and then some randoms. Mark and I had a great Thanksgiving break. We left for Atlanta on Wednesday, so I got a chance to see my sister and hang out with my family for the beginning of the week. We had a great time in Atlanta. Mark's parents have finally moved into their new home and it is gorgeous! Mark and I caught the building bug and have been looking at house plans for the past few weeks, but I'm sure this is going to pass, partly because we can't even agree on tile! We change our "plan" every other week. I've gotten used to the idea of living in our downtown apartment for a while. While we were in Atlanta, we got to hang out with Stefani, Brian, and Ty. He was just precious. We all had a great time, ate way too much, and enjoyed getting to see one another. We did have a horrible ending to such a great week. On Friday night, I came down with the stomach virus. It was horrible. Mark was so sweet though, he stayed up with me all night, and then ended up coming down with it himself on Saturday. By the time we left on Sunday, EVERYONE had it, and they even had to take Stefani to the ER! We can finally laugh about it now, but I do believe I would rather die that to ever have that bug again! Well, I'm going to make it a personal goal to try and blog at least once a week through the holidays. I get out of school on December 21st and I'm so excited!!! My girlfriends from college and I are heading off to Nashville for that weekend. We're staying at the Opryland Hotel and going to see the Rockettes! I'm so ready for a vacation, even for just a weekend!

The countdown to Thanksgiving!

I seem to be experiencing writer's block. Everytime I sit down to post, I go blank. Trust me, my life really isn't that boring. I just can't seem to write about it. I've started and stopped this post four times already! I could just be in need of some serious down time. It seems that since Mark and I were married, we've been going 90 miles an hour. I mean, our DVR is full of shows that we love, we just don't have time to watch them. This is why I'm all but counting down the days, hours, and minutes until Friday. My holiday break will officially begin with the wedding of my good friend Sally Moore. She is marrying a really sweet guy from the Delta, and I'm sure the wedding is going to be beautiful. After all the wedding festivities are over, I plan on sleeping in, drinking coffee while I watch the Today show, and doing lots of baking. I've got a great Paula Deen recipe for Pumpkin bars that I can't wait to try. My sister, SaraBeth, is going to culinary school this fall, and I've been somewhat inspired to work on my skills in the kitchen. I also plan on doing lots of reading. I'm almost embarrassed to admit how long it has been since I've actually read anything other than the fifth grade reading textbook. Any suggestions on a good read????? Mark and I will be heading to Atlanta next Wednesday to have Thanksgiving with his family so I'll have at least 10 hours in a car to do nothing but read. When we get back I will have lots of pictures from the wedding and of our families to post. Until then, I hope everyone has a great week, and a very happy Thanksgiving. Be sure to remember the things that you're thankful for. Exactly one year ago this Saturday my aunt Barbara was in a horrible wreck. She was airlifted to the Med and stayed there for exactly 40 days. We actually had our Thanksgiving dinner in the waiting room at the Med. We were first told that there was no way she was going to make it, but God had a different plan. Praise be to Him because today my aunt is home, and she continues to improve. She will never know how much we love her, and how our lives were all changed because of that experience. This is what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving. God bless.

It's been a while...

We're still alive, we've just been incredibly busy. Between dealing with fifth graders all day, grading papers, Mark starting a dental practice, and Ole Miss football / Boston Red Sox games, life has been very hectic!! Yes, that's right, I've actually started watching baseball, and Mark says by the end of this post season, I will officially be inducted in Red Sox Nation!!!! Whatever that means. Anyway, this past weekend I actually brought along my camara and I got a few pictures! Mark's sister and brother-in-law were in town with their son Tyler. We had a great time getting to see them. We stayed with my dear friend Kati Burkhalter, and got to hang out with her and her boyfriend Matt! We attempted to live like college students again but somehow ended up home and in bed by 10:30 Saturday night. Kati and Matt, y'all are awesome. It's crazy how you don't realize how much you miss someone until you finally have a chance to hang out with them!!! Everytime Kati and I get together, I realize how much I miss seeing her. I'm just glad Oxford is only and hour and a half away. I'm still doing the Beth Moore study on Daniel. Every week it just gets better and better. I highly recommend this bible study. I'm hoping we start a new one in the spring. Anyone interested let me know. Also, any suggestions on another study would be welcomed! We would love more people to join!!! Well, that's really all for now. It's 9:30 right now and I've only been home for 30 minutes. If I don't stop blogging and acknowledge that I have a husband this may be my last post. Just kidding! I have a computer at school!!! Anyway, have a wonderful week. God bless!!!

In case you needed a good laugh...

Well, I hope this picture puts a smile on someone's face! Mark and I had to have our picture made for our church directory. We felt a little gooby while we were taking the picture, but when the proof came back in the mail, Mark and I both had a good laugh. How old do we look? Anyway, it's been a while since I've posted. Not much is new. Mark and I went to Oxford this past weekend and had a blast. Really, who knew the Rebels were going to actually play that good. After the game, Mark and I ate dinner at a new restaurant called Waltz on the Square...it was awesome!!! I highly reccomend trying it out if you're ever in the Oxford area. We are going to be traveling to Athens this weekend for the Ole Miss/ Georgia game. I'm looking forward to it, because we'll get to hang out with Mark's family, baby Ty included!!!!!! Mark always gets very nervous when I spend a lot of time with his sister's son Ty, or my cousin Jen's little girls Lindsay and Gracie. He says he can see the "baby fever" come over me!!!! What can I say, it's true!! :) Anyway, I guess that's what you get for having the CUTEST kids in your family! On a different note, how awesome was the premiere of Dancing with the Stars? I'm already a huge fan of Jennie Garth! I'm watching the men dance as I'm typing. I feel like all is right in the world now that my shows are starting! Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and My Name is Earl. I just don't think I'm going to be able to bring myself to watch Private Practice. However, I'm looking forward to the new show Big Shots! I've been a huge fan of Michael Vartan since Alias! I just love fall!!!! Poor Wayne Newton... he has no dance skills! Sara Beth, if you're watching, I'm so sorry! I know you love him so!!! Oh, and I'm happy to report that my classroom has had air for the past few weeks! Have a great week everyone!

Is it really only September?

For those of you who are teachers, you know what I'm talking about! I can't believe we have only been in school for five weeks. It feels like it should at LEAST be March or April!!!! I haven't posted in a while because I have honestly been too tired to think of something remotely interesting to say. Last week my air conditioning in my classroom went out and it was miserable. At one point one of my little boys asked, "Mrs. Maz, may I stick my head out the window to cool off?" Finally, (after several parents made phone calls to the right people) we got our air fixed on Friday. Needless to say, it was a very trying week at work. We ended the week by having our friends, Batina and Chris, come over for dinner. As usual, Batina and I were left to entertain ourselves as our husbands played the new Tiger Woods game on the PS3. How sad is that? Mark is 30 and Chris is 25!!! On Saturday I decided to skip out on the game. Mark left around noon and I literally stayed in my pajamas ALL DAY!!!! I watched Lifetime and AMC like it was my job!!! And loved it!!! This week has been much better at school. However, I sent progress reports home today, so that previous statement may change. In my Beth Moore bible study, she talks about how we as women try too hard to be Domestic Goddesses AND Employee of the Week. There comes a point when it is just too overwhelming. You have to stop and DECIDE to choose joy. So I'm going to try to start each day with that mentality. I'm going to CHOOSE JOY!!! I may not feel it but God has appropriated it, so I'm going to choose it! I hope this might help someone like myself, get through the rest of the week. I hope y'all have a great one!! Oh, I've been wondering something. I've become a horrible blog stalker. At first, I would only look at the blogs of people I know, then I got bored and clicked on some random's blog. Ok, here's the question, should I leave a comment on their blog, or forever remain a silent blog stalker? I really don't know the "blog etiquette." Just wondering. :) Oh, and did anyone see Britney Spears' performance on the VMAs? No, I don't watch MTV, but I definitely watch YouTube and I also love some PerezHilton. Thoughts anyone? SaraBeth? Whitney?

Long weekend away...

Mark surprised me this weekend with a trip to Sandestin. We left early Saturday morning and came back late yesterday. We had so much fun!!! When we were telling my parents about everything we did while in Florida, we both realized that the majority of our time was spent eating!!!! How sad is that? When we arrived on Saturday we had lunch at the Acme Oyster House. So good! That night we ate at a place called Finz. We didn't really like that place. I would not recommend it. The next day we had Sunday brunch at The Beachwalk Cafe. I have to say that this was probably the best place I've eaten in Destin! We will definitely be going back. Anyway, we finished our stay by having dinner at Pompano Joe's. Always a fun place. Between all the food, we managed to sqeeze in some beach time, shopping, and even some putt-putt golf. We had so much fun! Although, I returned with an extra ten pounds! Therefore I started Weight Watchers today! I got an email from my friend Sally today, and I have exactly ten weeks until her wedding. How much weight can a person lose in ten weeks? We'll see!!! I also started a Beth Moore bible study tonight on the book of Daniel. I'm very excited about this study and the women who are a part of it! I haven't been in a small group bible study since I moved from Tupelo almost two years ago. It's a great feeling to finally be a part of one again. So, I'm still thinking that the only people who read this blog are my mom and my sister, so I love y'all and hope you have a great week. Mark is now rolling his eyes seeing that I'm "blogging" again! Above are the only pictures we took from our little "getaway." I'm horrible about taking pictures!

Photos Added

Well, I've finally figured out how to add a few of our pictures from the wedding. Better late than never. I'm not sure if anyone other that our families read this blog, but those of you who aren't from Corinth, Mark and I had a VERY interesting wedding eve to say the least. That Friday morning, Mark called me to tell me that Shiloh Ridge Golf Club was on FIRE!!! That's right, on fire!!! This just so happened to be the place where my bridesmaid's luncheon and our Rehearsal Dinner was taking place. Needless to say, I was one stressed out bride!!! But, as you can see from the pictures, everything worked out and it was a perfect day. No, we didn't end up having anything at Shiloh Ridge, but everything was perfect just the same. Hope you enjoy. As soon as our photographer gives up our code I will post how to view pictures from the wedding.

Tomorrow will be the end of the first two weeks of school. I have to say that it has been very tough getting back into the swing of things. I had settled into a nice little routine this summer...walking with a friend at 7, coffee with Regis and Kelly, and then watching The View as I got ready for the day. Needless to say, I haven't watched Kelly or Elisabeth since August 6th!
I was very nervous about this year because a lot of the fourth grade teachers had warned us that the group coming up was rough. I have to say, however, that my class is either putting on a good front, or I have a really sweet group of kids. They just love to talk...even more than I do!!!! Anyway, I'm slowly growing more comfortable with the "work" routine and I'm looking forward to football season!!! If any of my friends are reading this, I'm sure you just reread that last sentence and then double checked to make sure you're actually on my blog!!! But it's true, I can't wait to hang out in the Grove and see Kati B. and my seester and catch up on what's cool to wear and what's not. I miss y'all! Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to the weekend! Much needed rest awaits!!!! As soon as I figure out how to post a collage of pictures I'll post pics from the wedding, honeymoon, and random stuff since we've been back. Oh, before I forget, Mark's officially one step closer to buying into the practice!! His name just went up on the building with the other doctors. I'm so proud of him.

Goodbye summertime :(

It's that time again...school starts Monday!!!! :( Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job, I just really love my time at home too!!! This summer just went by way too fast! We are going to Atlanta this weekend for our last summer fling. Mark turns 30 on Friday so we are going to be celebrating!!!!!! I will try and take pictures and post them when we return. Right now I'm watching Mark play with his new Play Station 3 that I gave him for his birthday. Yes, I'm married to a 30 year old little boy! :) He was so cute though when he opened it! Anyway, I'm horrible at blogging, but for some reason I love it!!! If anyone would like to give me a crash course in blogging I would be forever grateful. Until then, I apologize for my poor little page! Oh, I've attached some random pictures from the past few weeks.

New to the Blogging world!!!!

Mark and I are back from a wonderful honeymoon in St. Lucia! We had so much fun. Our wedding was great! We were so happy to see everyone we loved. It was truly the most wonderful and humbling experience of my life. Mark and I have truly been blessed with the best friends and family a person could ever ask for. It was such a happy day!
Mark went back to work on Wednesday and I got bored. I began playing around on the internet. One of my dearest friends, Whitney Williams, turned me on to blogging, and I have to say that I have become somewhat of a blog stalker. So, as if I don't have a thousand other things I need to be doing, I decided to create a blog of my own. I can assure you that I will be the only contributor to the blog, seeing that Mark rolls his eyes everytime he catches me looking at someone elses. However, I've added his name just in case I ever change his mind. Hopefully, our blog will look a lot better as I continue learning how to do stuff. I'm going to try and post a link to our photographers website so everyone can view pictures from the wedding. We got our proofs back today and I can't wait to show them off!
